Identify OA Symptoms

Osteoarthritis causes chronic pain in dogs.  Dogs express that pain in subtle ways and make early identification of the progressive disease difficult. Dogs often learn coping mechanisms that include being less interactive, slowing of movement, or being adverse to certain normal activities.  Behavior changes that take the form of fear or anxiety often precede any physical indicators such as limping or yelping.  It is imperative that you observe your dog and take videos and notes for the next appointment you have with your veterinary professional.
